From Blog to Book, Our favorite recipe creators’ new cookbooks!
At our bakery cafe, we are always innovating with fresh flavors, always using the highest-quality, least processed ingredients possible, and always gaining inspiration from some of our favorite cookbook authors and bloggers. Our bakery’s ethos of creating healthful allergen friendly and anti-inflammatory goodies started in an effort to use food as medicine, understanding the powerful role food plays in shaping our health and ability to overcome even chronic conditions. Afterall, you literally are what you eat! We love serving simple good food and as we eye the changing season ahead, we’re looking forward to the release of new cookbooks from two of our favorite nourishing recipe creators. Our gluten and grain-free granola lines, sweetened only with natural sugars were born out of the desire to have an easy breakfast and snack that packs tons of nutrients into our diets, is a quick and convenient “dish” to prepare, and doesn’t include any of the ingredients many commercial cereals and snacks do.
As we look toward the start of school, you are maybe beginning to experience the “Sunday Scaries-” of packing lunches and getting dinners on the table five days a week, while simultaneously adjusting to new school, activity, and sleep routines. Luckily for us, Danielle Walker, New York Times Bestselling Cookbook author (who also happens to exclusively create dairy, gluten, grain, refined-sugar-free recipes) is debuting her 6th cookbook, coming September 10th, Make It Easy. We are eyeing the book for its minimal-ingredient recipes created with simplicity in mind- without compromising on nutrition (or taste)! The theme of this cookbook is meal-prepping and planning- so you can expect to find weekly dinner plans incorporating recipes that use similar ingredients or components- to cut down on time and spending. Danielle has been creating paleo recipes for years after using a healing diet to help in the treatment of her Ulcerative Colitis- but she doesn’t settle when it comes to flavor. She has become a pro at turning stereo-typical meals into healthier, just-as-tasty alternatives that everyone can enjoy- irregardless of dietary preferences/restrictions. Danielle is a beacon of light for many who have had to change their diets and miss their old favorites; while you’re waiting on her new book to come out, check out “Eat What You Love” or “Celebrations”- two cookbooks chock-full of good-for-you renditions of cult classics. Danielle also has hundreds of free recipes on her blog- daniellewalker.com. I’m a sucker for dessert so I’m particularly excited for the “no-cook banana pudding parfaits,” but Make it Easy also has plenty of make-ahead recipes for breakfast, dinner, snacks, and sides.
Debuting her very first cookbook, Monique Volz, better known as “Ambitious Kitchen” is bringing her blog off the web and into our homes September 17th with The Ambitious Kitchen cookbook. Bursting with variety, Monique’s recipes are wholesome at baseline, and never ever boring. Her book brings us over 125 recipes with the approach of showing us “what food can add to not take away from our lives.” Monique is authentically herself which shows up in her recipes, with a contagious energy, you can’t help but want to try her dishes for yourself. While not designed for any one specific diet, most recipes provide modifications to work for you. I’ve been a fan for years and love that while she herself has no dietary modifications, she explores and implements a full range of ingredients- publishing recipes on her blog (ambitiouskitchen.com) for grain-free cakes, dairy-free (next-level) smoothies, and plenty of vegetarian mains among other more classic recipes like “the best cinnamon rolls you’ll ever eat.” Monique embraces delicious foods with bold flavors and super nutrient-dense ingredients, and within her cookbook there will truly be something for everyone!
So while the end-of-summer-blues may be setting in, fix your sights on all the exciting cooking inspiration coming soon to a kitchen near you! Both Danielle and Monique are holding book tours this fall with stops across the country. Book a ticket, meet the chefs behind the delicious recipes, tell them thanks for bringing us every day inspiration, and of course bring (or meet) a foodie friend or two.
